Description
Canadian society as a whole is diverse. We pride ourselves on being inclusive. That should extend to those practicing law.
Yet when it comes to hiring lawyers who have lived and worked elsewhere, law practices aren’t always adaptable and flexible. However, you should consider the benefits of including internationally trained lawyers or legal professionals. These individuals have connections all over the world and often speak more than one language. Clients who have lived and worked elsewhere instantly relate to the lawyers they work with and their needs are serviced better.
In this panel discussion, foreign trained lawyers will discuss their experiences in becoming qualified as legal professionals in Canada, the challenges they faced and provide insight into why being inclusive of foreign trained lawyers is good for business.
Panelists: Barbara de Dios, Corporate Counsel, Canadian Dental Services, Corporation (Toronto), Charles Osuji, Managing Partner, Osuji Smith (Calgary); Alexander Pavlov, Certified Law Clerk (Waterloo)
Moderator: Marcel Mongeon
