Description

The legal system is supposed to be unbiased and fair. But it this always the case? People are influenced by many factors and those influences may creep into the courtroom consciously or unconsciously.

In this webinar Dr. Julie Macfarlane and Megan Campbell, of the National Self-Represented Litigants Project, will be looking at issues of bias in the legal profession , particularly where one or both parties are self-represented. They will discuss stereotypes, look at case law where bias was an issue, and provide guidance on mindfulness in and out of the courtroom.

Dr. Julie Macfarlane is a professor in the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor. She established the National Self-Represented Litigants Project in the wake of the momentum created by her national study of self-representation, published in 2013.

Megan Campbell is a law student at the University of Windsor .
