Legal professionals have a duty to represent their clients skilfully and diligently. For some, this translates into “duty” to zealously advocate on behalf of their clients.
Some compound this with the belief that zealous advocacy authorizes abrasiveness, bullying, hardball lawyering and a win-at-all-costs attitude.
These behaviours are a direct contradiction to the duty to be civil and may cross the line between being a zealous advocate and a bully.
In this webinar, Marcel Mongeon will discuss the importance of civility within the legal profession and how it is not consistent with bullying behaviour. Included will be some
helpful strategies for dealing with incivility.
